Tai Chi for Mental Health & Wellbeing
A gentle, low-demand weekly session combining the calming practice of Tai Chi with supportive community connection in a friendly, unpressured space.
A Space to Breathe, Move, and Connect
Living with chronic stress, isolation, or serious mental health difficulties can leave our minds and nervous systems exhausted. Traditional exercise classes can sometimes feel intimidating or overly demanding.
Our Monday evening sessions are designed to be entirely different: low-demand, deeply supportive, and community-centred. Led by a highly experienced instructor who is well known across Leicester and Leicestershire, the Tai Chi practice focuses on slow, grounded movements and breathwork that help ease anxiety, reduce tension, and restore balance.
Because Personality Disorders UK is a lived-experience organisation, we understand how hard it can be to take that first step into a group. Our team is right there beside you — offering informal peer support, a listening ear, and practical signposting.
What to Expect on Mondays
Each evening is split into structured movement and unhurried social time, giving you the freedom to engage at whatever pace feels right for you.
1. Welcome & Settle In (6:30 – 7:00 PM)
Arrive early to decompress. Grab a hot tea or coffee, have a snack, and chat with our team and fellow participants in a warm, relaxed setting before the class begins.
2. Tai Chi Lesson (7:00 – 8:00 PM)
A full one-hour session led by our experienced instructor. The movements are adaptable, gentle on joints, and taught step-by-step so anyone can follow along comfortably.
3. Support & Chat (8:00 – 8:30 PM)
Stay after class to wind down. Dedicate time to catching up, discussing any mental health struggles, or asking our team for signposting and guidance.
“Movement without pressure, connection without judgment — a gentle step toward feeling grounded and supported.”
